Maldene is a world of magic and legends, a world where the supernatural is just natural.  But, as you may have surmised by now, even amongst legends there are some that are more rare and fanciful than others, some known to very few people indeed. Amongst them is a strange young lady named Yuën Seüng.

Stories of her, if you can find an ancient enough text that has any, have her as having lived some 50,000 rels ago (that’s 180,000 years Earth time!), then nothing really since.  Long enough that memory of her has effectively ceased to exist.  And yet she may have been spotted far more recently (specifically her blink-and-you’ll-miss-her first scene in Maldene II: Mysteries Of Olde), in the abode of an even more reclusive legend.

Of course, it could always be a modern-day lookalike, someone of similar appearance, but considering what her appearance is, that would seem somewhat unlikely. First, she is said to be of Sileen stock (Chinese or Japanese for you Earthers), but with blond hair, which is unusual enough but then she also has green eyes.. A combination unheard of, but there’s more, for her body is said to be covered by tightly-printed script tattooed onto nearly every square inch of exposed skin. From there the legend gets very fanciful indeed, for it is said that this tattooed script is magical, like magic runes. Also that it is the remnant knowledge of a long-fallen civilization, recorded directly onto her skin!

All rather fanciful indeed, just like most myths.  Oh, but there is one more thing the myth of Yuën Seüng tells of: another she is said to be associated with, best friends perhaps; someone who is perhaps a slightly more well known legend, though some say merely an archetype…
