Next in my series of Maldene-oriented visuals, we have The Treblors. So what are they? Well, Treblors are mythic creatures rare even for Maldene; somewhere between the Titans of ancient Greek and dinosaurs. Leftovers from some distant past when the world was re-made, if you can believe such rumors. There are five types; basically one for each of the four basic elements and one for Man. The one thing they all have in common is exceedingly large size and power.
Take, for example, the Fondar– the Treblor of Man. The picture below is of your average-sized castle vs a Fondar. It is to scale.

There s known to be at least one of the Fondar, possibly a couple more, but thankfully they are all male; no breeding pairs. Like all Treblors they were long ago imprisoned by long dead ancient gods, and the power to try and summon one forth for even a brief appearance is, fortunately, nearly insurmountable… though there may be exceptions.
Next up is the Treblor of fire: Lemvo. A 1500-foot long cross between fire worm and elemental.

Just about any sort of attack burns away in its presence, including a lot of forms of magic. Swords? Don’t make me laugh. If you had a small tac-nuke you just might feed it. Only one is known to exist, and it is rumored to be imprisoned in some outer reach of the Elemental Planes.
Other Treblors (ones I don’t have pictures for) are:
- The Setadok: The Treblor of water, saidf to be imprisoned somewhere deep in the ocean’s debths, it is basically a humanoid-fish creature… a thousand feel tall. He commands the oceans, and his mere gaze can instantly draw all water out of a target. He is the last of his kind.
- Grocko: The Treblor of land, he is basically a mountain (in the more literal sense, size-wise) with limbs and a vaguely humanoid form. Imprisoned as other Treblors, he has a very easy-going nature and is the last of hios kind. A note on this one, were there anyone alive to know it, but ‘Grocko’ is actually his personal name.
- Rondlo: The Treblor of Air, it is a large flying creature that much resembles Rodan from certain Japanese monster flicks (I’m a geek through and through). It is said that there are two of these creatures, a mated pair, however while they are imprisoned– it is said– where the Elemental Plane of Air meets the Mountain of the Four Winds, the nature of their imprisonment leaves them unable to get any closer to one another than two-score feet.
Well, that’s all for this one. Treblors are not to be messed with, and there are some very good reasons why certain olden gods imprisoned the few survivors and destroyed all the rest. So, what are those reasons? Read the books, because there is too much to say in a short little article.
