Maldene- The Way It Was Meant to Be- In Time For Xmas

Okay, so a long winded post title, but there’s a reason for that.

If you’ve been poking around here enough, you probably realize that I wrote the first Maldene novel to be as a single volume, not two. Well, that goes back to dealing with a certain former publisher who had me divide it, even though that would make for a harder sell and the appendices would be in the back of Volume Two and- well, I didn’t like it, but no choice. So, when after I left them and made a few hard copies of my own with a LOT better cover (thank-you Sasha and Diego), I simply kept the same two-volume files I’d already formatted since it was easier and book production really isn’t my thing (just writing them). Then later with my own ebook release, pretty much the same thing; I just dumped the print files right into an ebook format. Not until I was getting Maldene II up did it occur to me, “Hey! This is ebook format- I don’t CARE about if I can physically print this puppy out or not.” So that’s why Maldene II (which is even bigger than the first book) is released as a single volume, because that’s the way I wrote it.

So, what does this all have to do with the price of fish in Guatemala? Well, nothing really, but what it means for Maldene is this: I had to do some tinkering with the Volume One and Two covers to splice them together, and the rest is simple enough, but (drum roll)… I am going to release the first complete Maldene novel as a SINGLE volume! Exactly the way it was meant to be. No more multi-volume single-novel confusion, no more breaking out Volume Two to look up a Maldene word from Volume One while you’re still on that one, just the first complete Maldene novel released as a single book (all 330,000 words of it).

I’m aiming for the first of December to release it, and pricing will be about what you’d pay for Volume One and Two together. I will still keep up the separate volumes and the various bundle deals I have up for them, but from now on if you haven’t started into Maldene, you will just need the one ebook for the first FULL book from now on. (Then once you finish that you can start into “Maldene II: Mysteries Of Olde”; maybe I’ll even put the two full novels together into another bundle.)

Note that this will be ebook only. When a major publisher FINALLY discovers me and wants to do something in print, then I’ll let THEM worry about how to put a 330,000-word book into a set of covers. I just want to get back to my writing.
