Welcome to the third in my series of helping you to visualize the worlds of my works, this time focusing a bit on the forces of Fate that intrude into that world.

Let’s start with the Maldene Tarot for a bit, in that there is a relevant card: The Fates.

Like all Maldene cards, this one has three different meanings, depending on which order is faced up.  Fate can refer to a beginning, an ending, or a rebirth.  Much like Death can refer to more than simply dying.

Though if you have the following card pointing to death then you have trouble:

But who exactly is it in the story that uses these cards, helps Fate (Shka’) with the deal?

In Maldene mythology, the blond soothsayer is thought of as an archetype; give her golden skin and it can be no more than a fanciful fairy-tale, a myth that goes back thousands of rels.  Just a story, right?

Right?

Then who exactly is that figure wandering around unobserved in the background since the early chapters of Maldene?   And does Miro know she lurks?
