The Coiled Dragon of the Greater Arcana represents restrained power, and what better visual of power than the sight of the highest mountains on Maldene, the mountains of the dalnmar (that’s ‘continent’ for you Earthers) of Frecaloth. In a world where there are ranges with mountains upwards of 20,000 to 40,000 or more in places, the mountain range in Frecaloth towers above them all with a peak that breaks the 100,000-foot mark. That males Olympus Mons on Mars look like a speed-bump! A peak so high that the ones beneath it barely poke themselves above the eternal cloud layer like islands.
Of course, there is something else said to be up on that peak; something for which The Coiled Dragon card is a more literal representation. For the mountains of Frecaloth are home to hordes of dragons, many of them quite large. Some upwards of 300 to 500 feet long, a few a thousand. But there is one that dwarfs them all, their undisputed king.
Traugh is Miro’s most fearsome creation, even more so than Steelu Queen of Spiders. A full mile at the shoulder and three times that from head to the base of his tail. If asked “What does that thing eat?” the answer is either that it feeds on cosmic forces, or that it simply eats other dragons. When Miro calls Traugh out then you know things are getting really serious indeed!
