When I said that Maldene is a world made complete, I wasn’t kidding around. In fact, I have the entire solar system stated up, from the other planets to the comet cloud. And not just for busy work; a few of them do indeed appear in the story, though much later on in the series. …

Maldene contains many an unusual site, places unlike anywhere else. Amongst them is a location best described by two particular tarot cards. The Alchemist from the Greater Arcana is a card of transformation, while The Wizard indicates, quite obviously, mystical forces. The one place that best exemplifies …

Besides the usual Elves, Dwarves, Felinians, and what-not, there are, of course, humans on the world of Maldene. And just like on Earth, there are various sub-races of Human, though a few more than there are for your Earth. Some have a familiar appearance but with different names, others the difference might be more cultural …

Amongst the many items of legend and myth circulating the world and stars of Maldene, there is one in particular that ranks amongst the most dangerous; dangerous because it is a very persnickety device, its origins murky at best. Its use is best exemplified by two particular cards of the Maldene Tarot. …

Okay, so this is part writing tip, part rant. Generally I get excellent reviews for ‘Maldene’, but a couple of them also asked, “But where are all the character backstories?”, as if every character involved must have a backstory before Chapter Two. There’s just a few problems with that philosophy (besides ending up with things …

On occasion you find something, a little clue, in the world of Maldene, that has been staring right in the face of its citizens for ages on end and completely missed. Something– or someone– thought of as mere myth, a fictional archetype that is perhaps not so fictional. Take the Tarot card “The Mystic” as …

In its upright position it points to power, courage, and action, while its left corner refers to tempered strength and strength of character. Properties represented by a large man …

Okay, it’s back to some more Maldene Tarot card images, though I do have images of other characters as well as of other worlds in the Maldene star system. Like Earth Tarot, Maldene’s has different suits, and court cards, though the arrangement is different. For Maldene it’s three suits– Gai (swords), Naib (orbs), and Trib …

Well, today we have a bit of a theme centered around another card from the Maldene Tarot, specifically the Trib of Naib. This card is the third in the suit of Naib (or Orbs for you Earthers); a card that represents ‘distinction’ in its main meaning, ‘physical suffering’ for its left-corner, and ‘Dominion’ for …

Next in my series of Maldene-oriented visuals, we have The Treblors. So what are they? Well, Treblors are mythic creatures rare even for Maldene; somewhere between the Titans of ancient Greek and dinosaurs. Leftovers from some distant past when the world was re-made, if you can believe such rumors. There are five types; basically one …
